The leader of the so-called Southern Transitional Council, Hani Brik, has not denied the accusations of his involvement in the assassination of Salafist preacher Samhan Rawi in Aden two years ago.
Although the publication of these confessions happened 24 hours ago, Ben Brik did not deny the accusations; he implicitly acknowledged their validity, in several tweets on Twitter after the publication of the charges.
The first suspect, Hilmi Jalal, was indicted for forming assassination squads that would liquidate a list of personalities including mosque imams in Aden from 2015 to 2018, headed by Sheikh Rawi.
Following the publication of these accusations, Ben Brik published tweets about fighting against terrorism. He attacked the Islah Party.
The writers and activists considered Ben Brik’ statements as an implacental acknowledgement of the validity of the charges, while a human rights group called on the Yemeni government to investigate him.
The writer, Marwan al-Ghafouri, said Ben-Brik’s tweets was an “official acknowledgment” of his involvement in the crime, adding that he had vowed to launch a new phase of assassinations against Islah leaders.
